COTA (Council on the Ageing) Tasmania’s Seniors Week starts today (Monday October 14), marking a special occasion for Tasmanians to celebrate the invaluable contributions of older people and embrace new friendships and connections across the generations.
This year, as COTA Tasmania celebrates its 60th anniversary, Seniors Week is focused on an intergenerational theme, highlighting how people of all ages can come together to share, learn, and connect while having fun. It’s a time for building meaningful relationships and strengthening community bonds across generations.
Throughout the week, over 380 events across the State will bring a vibrant energy, showcasing the talents, wisdom, and life experiences of older Tasmanians. Whether it’s through art, music, workshops, or outdoor activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy with opportunities to connect with people of all ages new people along the way.
This year also sees a special contribution within the Seniors Week guide from Chef Massimo Mele, who shares a favourite family recipe of Zeppole (Italian Donuts) as a way of connecting across generations and honouring seniors.
