Seniors Week celebrates older Tasmanians and recognises the contributions we make to our communities. It’s a week of events for older people, all over Tasmania.
This year, Seniors Week will be held from 13-19 October, 2025 and our theme is Connecting Generations through Food.
Why Food?
We use it to connect, show love, tell stories, mark milestones, make (and recall) memories, and to bring people together from all walks of life. For thousands of years, food has made its mark on fashion, function, connection, chemistry, homes and history.

Many of the organisations that host events during Seniors Week have events happening year-round. Why not have a look through the guide and get in touch with a local group to find out about getting involved in an activity in your area.

Have a go at a Seniors Week recipe!
Food can be such a dynamic and powerful way for people to come together, for Chef Mele, this means making Zeppole (Italian Donuts).  Download a copy of the recipe below. Check out the recipe here.
The Warrane Mornington Neighbourhood Centre Inc. lovingly serves meals to a range of community members who are here to enrich the lives of individuals and families who live, work and visit the local community. A popular favourite is their Lemonade Scones. Check out the recipe here.
