Generations Connect: Tech Together
Generations Connect: Tech Together is an intergenerational initiative led by COTA Tasmania. The program trains young Tasmanians to become Young Digital Mentors, equipping them with the skills to provide one-on-one technology support to older adults living in residential aged care homes.
Over six to ten weeks, students/young people and residents meet an hour weekly to share stories, build friendships, and learn practical digital skills together.
From using smartphones and tablets to exploring online communication and creativity, the program not only helps older Tasmanians feel more confident with technology but also creates meaningful connections across generations.
Why it Matters:
- Empowers older adults to stay connected and independent in a digital world.
- Builds confidence, leadership, and empathy in young people.
- Strengthens community ties through intergenerational learning and shared experiences.
