Tasmanian Policy Council (TPC)

The COTA Tasmania Policy Council was established in 2010 as a sub-committee of the COTA Tasmania Board. Its purpose is to provide expert advice and guidance on issues of importance to older Tasmanians, ensuring their voices shape our policy and advocacy work.

The Council also contributes to the development of national policy through the COTA Australia’s National Policy Council, giving Tasmanians a voice on the issues that matter at both a state and national level.

The Policy Council works to:

  • Identify priority issues for COTA Tasmania’s policy focus (local, state, and national)
  • Recommend effective policy and program responses
  • Ensure policy positions are informed by stakeholder input, research, and evidence
  • Support COTA Tasmania’s advocacy through leadership and subject expertise
  • Advise on strategies for advancing COTA Tasmania’s policy agenda
  • Represent Tasmania in national policy forums
