What is Auspicing?
Auspicing means that an incorporated organisation takes responsibility for administering the grant funds on your behalf. As an established and trusted not-for-profit, COTATasmania can auspice projects that align with our mission to promote the rights, interests, and well-being of older Tasmanians.
This arrangement allows unincorporated groups to access valuable funding opportunities while ensuring grants are managed responsibly and in line with funder requirements.
Things to know:
- Administration Fee: COTA Tasmania charges an auspicing fee of 5% of the total grant, which must be included in your budget. This covers our administrative and budget management services.
- Timeframes: Requests for auspicing must be made at least 10 business days before the grant deadline. Please plan ahead.
- Grant Writing: Auspicing does not include grant writing or editing. If you need support in preparing an application, please contact us at least three weeks before the due date
Obligations: COTA Tasmania will
- Hold and manage grant funds in our account.
- Pay invoices or transfer funds upon receipt of proper documentation.
- Provide administrative assistance and financial oversight.
- Supply a financial statement to be included in the final grant report
Your group (the auspicee) must:
- Manage the project budget and provide receipts for all expenditures.
- Report on the project’s outcomes using templates provided by the funding body.
- Acknowledge COTA Tasmania’s support in your project materials (logo or written acknowledgment).
Request COTA Tasmania to auspice your grant:
To request auspicing, please email admin@cotatas.org.au with a full draft of your grant application. A completed draft is essential before we can provide a letter of support confirming our auspice role.
