In a joint initiative between COTA Tasmania (Council on the Ageing) and Working It Out(WIO), we have launched a suite of LGBTIQ+ friendly resources to raise awareness of elder abuse in the community.
LGBTIQ+ Elder Abuse Awareness
Research over the past decade has shown a consistent lack of representation and awareness of elder abuse within the LGBTIQ+ community. To help address this gap, undertook a statewide co-design process, exploring existing resources and identifying what was missing
The new materials feature original artwork by Tasmanian artist Sabine Wagner, offering engaging, community-connected designs that spark curiosity while maintaining discretion where appropriate.
This Tasmanian Government-funded initiative aims to increase awareness of elder abuse in the LGBTIQ+ community and contribute to reducing its prevalence across the state.
