COVID-19 vaccinations starting soon

The first phase of vaccinations will start in Tasmania during the last week of February 2021.

All Tasmanians are encouraged to be vaccinated, but when you will get a vaccine depends on COVID risk factors like: your age, your job and your health.

The vaccine will first be given to people who are at higher-risk of getting COVID or getting very sick from it. These people are described as being in Phase 1 A. They are:

  • Staff working in designated quarantine and border facilities.
  • Frontline health care staff working in higher risk locations.
  • Residents and staff of residential aged care and disability care facilities.

These people will be contacted directly to make an appointment to receive the vaccine. A booking system will be put in place for the next stages of the vaccine rollout.

The Commonwealth Government will manage the vaccinations of residents and staff of residential aged care and disability services. To download an information sheet for residents of residential aged care facilities, their families and carers, click here.
