Tonight’s Federal Budget will help deliver some crucial cost of living relief for older Australians, including energy relief for all households and a tax cut for around 4.6million people over 50 years.
A joint initiative between COTA Tasmania (Council on The Ageing) and Working It Out (WIO) to help raise awareness of Elder Abuse within the LGBTIQ+ community was launched as part of the Pride Party in the Park celebrations on Saturday 1 February 2025.
COTA Tasmania submitted their Budget Priorities Statement on the 20th December 2024, highlighting the need for greater awareness of the needs of Tasmania's ageing population and a stronger focus on proactive and preventative measures to support us all to age well.
COTA Tasmania has welcomed the State Government’s launch of 'A Respectful, Age-Friendly Island: Older Tasmanians’ Action Plan 2025-2029', while at the same time emphasising a critical need for its swift implementation.
