On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, 15 June 2023, the Tasmanian Government launched Tasmania’s third strategy addressing the abuse of older Tasmanians – Lifelong Respect: Tasmania’s Strategy to end the abuse of older people (Elder Abuse) 2023-2029.
The strategy was launched by the Minister for Community Services and Development, Nic Street, at the Hobart Walk Against Elder Abuse.
“This Strategy, which was developed in consultation with the Statewide Elder Abuse Prevention Committee (SEAPAC) and stakeholders, will provide the foundation for the Government’s ongoing commitment to older Tasmanians’ right to be safe, respected, and live with dignity,” said Minister Street.
“I would like to thank SEAPAC who provided important advice and feedback regarding the Strategy’s development, including representing the lived experience of many older Tasmanians, and COTA Tasmania for their ongoing advocacy and valued partnership with our Government.”
