“Ageism is at the heart of aged care failure”

The Interim Report of the Aged Care Royal Commission, starkly entitled Neglect, highlights a lack of respect for older people. Dr Susan Banks is a researcher in health, ageing and disability at the University of Tasmania. Her opinion piece, “Ageism is at the heart of aged care failure”, appeared in the Mercury on 6 November 2019. It argues that how we talk about older people primes us to care less and spend less.
