COTA Tasmania is currently supporting the Tasmanian Government’s review and development of a new Strategy 2023-2029. Our 2022 H.E.A.R Consultation will help to shape the next strategy, ensuring that both best practice and lived experience will influence the Governments priorities for ensuring all older Tasmanians can age well within their communities.
Past Consultation supporting the Active Ageing plan
In 2016 and 2017, COTA Tasmania spoke to older Tasmanians across the state about what they enjoy about ageing in Tasmania and what they find challenging. Based on this, COTA wrote the following documents:
- Active Ageing Plan Background Document: what older Tasmanians told COTA
- Active Ageing Plan Strategic Directions Paper: recommendations for Government, based on what older Tasmanians told COTA.
The Tasmanian Government used this information to develop its ‘Strong, Liveable Communities – Tasmania’s Active Ageing Plan 2017-2022 that is “...the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to support people to maintain their health, increase their participation, continue to learn, and feel secure as they age.”
